Whatever Happened To:EVANESCENCE

http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/9020/evanescence016xk5.jpg
Evanescence according to South park

Formed in 1995,Evanescence consisted of two good friends – now almost enemies – the haunting voice of Amy Lee and lead g-man,Ben Moody.Fallen was the bands debut success, spawning hit singles such as "Bring Me To Life" and the trademark ballad "My Immortal",all in 2003.And leading them to 2 Grammy wins the follwing year, one for Best Newcomers, beating out 50Cent,among others.Evanescence seemed to bring something completely new,out of nowhere, however reminding slightly of  fellow female-led bands, such as,Nightwish and Halestorm(loving their new hit,It's Not You).
After gaining worldwide success, among all cultures,2006 saw the release of the less propelling album,The Open Door, selling ten million fewer than than Fallen.Line-up changes, thereafter caused a hiatus, the band failing to measure up…
However, the sub-gothic rockers has great news: Their new, third album is in recording process, and is scheduled to be released by August, but no later than September, this year.Amy Lee commented on the new wrok, saying it's gonna be their best yet.with the band focusing on improvement, rather than being static. So,the break-up stories weren't completely true!
The current, newer members has come aboard, which should deliver a different sound, but no word on Ben Moody rejoining.Production is being led by Steve Lillywhite, the man rumoured to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol.
What seemed like a solo adventure for Lee,has vanished,as they are already performing together.Unavoidably, there is now a huge hype, creating high hopes for a steady future for the band that is,Evanescense. The bands offical site is Evanscence.com

This Week's Hip of The Hop:Usher&Nicki Minaj-Lil Freak

 http://cdn.pitchfork.com/media/ushernicki452.jpg
This is honestly one of my favourite tunes at the moment.Lil Freak is the second single from Usher's Billboard200 no.1 album,Raymond V. Raymond. The intro kicks off with them hollor-ing at each other, with a cool beat building up.The vocals is really something else, and the beat is very different from any other Plow da Don-song.Addictive ish!Depending on wich version you listen to,it can be super explicit.the bond between Usher and Nicki is very visible. In fact, without Nicki's verse the song would miss something. She delivers her signature awesomeness.I think I'm in love with her.You can barely make out what she's saying(I had to search the lyrics),but it's very unique and clever.Listen for yourself. It's one of the funniest, yet best rap verse I've heard in along time.Lil Freak is by far the best song, thus far from the new album.OMG is not that hot.Download it,for free, here.

Dance Move Of The Week:Stromae-Alors on Danse

http://www.predaster.com/images/pochettes-cd/stromae.jpg
Here's the very first "DanceSong of the Week".I discovered this song on the Euro iTunes(one of my fave music/chart sites),a couple of months ago. It's sung completely in Fench,by Belgian artist,Stromae(pronounced Stromaj) with a heavy house infuenced beat, reminding a lot of Edward Maya's Strereo Love.Even though I have no idea what he's saying,I absolutely love it,especially the intro.Stromae really has a captivating voice, perfect for the Dance/Electro genre. The vocals and beat are techniqued  so perfectly,it's simply unmistakable.Intellegence really comes up in the vocal attributes. The tune has peaked at number one in over 7 European countries, and also the Billboard EuroHot100,just last week.

Vid Of the Week:SelenaGomezAndTheScene-Naturally,baby!

Various images from the video
Wow! I was impressed when I first heard Disney teen superstar Selena’s powerful, capturing voice.Vocals that should make her peers sound like something from last Tuesday.I was instantly addicted to the song’s chorus(Ooh,it comes naturally),when I heard a snippet of it.The band’s debut album,Kiss&Tell, got mixed, almost negative reviews, last year. But,undoubtedly, this makes them a MASTERPIECE.The electro bass is a highlight. The whole vibe makes one feel like you’re in a hot dance club.It actually reminds me a lot of a modern-day Kristine W.In the vid,the Wizards of Waverly star steals the spotlight. The choreography is out of this world and so fitting with the tempo of the song. And,SelEz looks like she jumped straight out of a Russian mafia/fashion movie - that’s a good thing – adding to the energetic feeling the special effects and colourful backdrops create.
Recently, the song has generated great success, becoming the band’s signature tune, peaking at no7 on the UKTop40 and deservedly so,receiving their first no1,on the US Dance chart.Download the video, song at ToxicWap.You can check out the video at the top,on the YouTube VideoBar.

New Artist Of The Week:Edward Maya

What a perfect DJ name, hey? I discovered this hard working techno-electro musician's music on the Euro iTunes charts, earlier this year(he's still catapulting the charts). Two songs of his are prominent on the charts:the addictive Stereo Love, wich has ascended to no1in almost every European country;and the less succesful clubbanger,This Is My Life.Over 1 million copies shifted and 20 mill YouTube views, and has even reached the Canadian Hot 100 at pos.19. A US breaktrough following? Only time will tell,as he'll be releasing Stereo Love on May,10th-very close.Born in Bucharest,Romania in 1986,he started making music about 3 years ago, when he co-composed the 2008 Romanian Eurovision Song-entry.After that, the real hard work started, working for various fellow, native artists/dj's.He's putting the final touches on his,yet to be announced album and 2010 is his final year in studies at Bucharest Conservatory.Visit his official, very cool website or download his tunes from ToxicWap,here.
